Cindy Lynn Jacobs' life changed drastically the day she was born. And again every minute following that event. She has survived traumatic events, such as wearing her pants backwards to work, losing her underwear in a public parking lot, and getting caught talking to herself in the bathroom. Her life is rich with serious and not-so-serious experiences that she allows to spill out into her writing in order to empower, encourage, enlighten and entertain readers.

As a little girl, Cindy was drawn to stories. Her favorite pastime was browsing the shelves at the library which always resulted in hauling a stack of books home where she later poured over the pages and illustrations. She dabbled in writing stories for fun and, once she became a mom, she shared her love of books with her kids.

“Mom’s voice always changed with the story,” said Cindy’s youngest daughter. One of the family favorites was The Treasure Tree, by John Trent. Chewy the Beaver, Giggle the Otter, Lance the Lion and Honey the Golden Retriever all had voices of their own to coincide with their unique personalities.

Currently Cindy resides in Mishawaka, Indiana, near her three fantabulous adult children, son-in-law and parents. She is the proud grandma of three grandpuppies—Molly the black terrier/mutt, Bodie the blue merle Australian Shepherd and Sadie the Brindle Boxer.

Cindy received her degree in Professional Writing from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, and her B.A. in General Studies with concentrations in communication and journalism. Since June 2000 Cindy has served as an advisor in the area of student media for Bethel College, first as director of student publications, then as assistant director of student media. In these positions she teaches, advises and oversees the production of the student yearbook and newspaper.

In addition to writing, Cindy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, crocheting, researching genealogy and, of course, writing.

As a freelancer, Cindy writes regularly for local, national and online publications and businesses. Her work has appeared in publications, such as Clubhouse, Single-Parent Family, IN Michiana and Inside Granger. She is currently venturing into the wildly competitive world of authors in pursuit of publishing her books. She is co-writing a devotional, working on a mid-grade reader about a young teenage boy struggling to survive Hurricane Katrina and co-writing a book about online dating for Christians.

In order to further her experience in the field of professional writing, Cindy belongs to the Bethel College Writers Accountability Network, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Write2Ignite! Conference team. She also attends writers conferences annually to stay current with the publishing industry, and to network with publishers, agents, editors and authors.
